EARLY DEMI-COUTURE STUDY | JUTE | LACE | HAND EMBROIDERY

An early demi-couture study exploring jute, lace and hand embroidery through the transformation of raw material into a refined fashion language.

Timeless Elegance jute mannequin study

Timeless Elegance is an early demi-couture project built around the transformation of jute: a raw, rigid and humble fabric treated as the base for a more precious and sculptural womenswear language.

The collection explores the contrast between roughness and delicacy, using lace, fringe, elongated silhouettes and evening references to move the material away from its utilitarian origin.

Project Context

Developed during my final path at Istituto Marangoni, the project was later selected for the Back to the Roots Celebration, where six womenswear outfits were presented.

This gave the work a first public dimension beyond the original academic portfolio, connecting the research to a real presentation context.

Surface Process

The embellished pieces were personally hand-embroidered by me.

Lace was cut, deconstructed, recomposed and stitched directly onto the jute base, creating irregular decorative surfaces that softened the material without erasing its raw quality.

This manual process is central to the project: the value of the work lies not only in the concept, but in the time, placement and surface building behind each garment.

Silhouette
Direction

The silhouettes work through verticality, transparency and controlled volume.

Long skirts, bustier constructions, lace placements and fringe details create a tension between austerity and sensuality, giving the project a more evening-oriented and demi-couture attitude.

Note

Now presented within the archive, Timeless Elegance remains an early but meaningful trace of my approach: starting from a material contrast and pushing it through silhouette, surface and manual intervention until it becomes a recognisable fashion direction.
